The stomach is a major concern to most people. It seems to collect the most fat, and at the same time, is noticeable to anyone who looks at you for more than a second. Unless you want to undergo liposuction, there is no real way to lose weight only from your stomach. In order to lose weight from your stomach, you must lose weight from your entire body. However, you can target your stomach muscles when resistance training. By doing so, you will add stomach muscle mass, and make them easier to see through the natural layer of fat that covers them. In essence, it will appear that you've lost weight from your stomach, when in fact you may have only lost an inch or two.
In this article, we will look at a few easy-to-do, stomach muscle exercises. By using a few of these tips a few times a week, you can lose weight from your stomach, entire body and at the same time, improve your stomach muscle density or mass.
Sit-Ups/Crunches
The crunch/sit-up is a great way to bulk up your stomach muscles. While most people cringe at the thought of doing them, they exclusively target your stomach area. In time, once your body adapts, you can try holding a small weight on your chest in order to add more resistance.
Exercise Ball
The exercise ball can help you work those stomach muscles more effectively. It allows for a greater range of motion, compared to lying flat on your back. Most people also find the exercise ball to be more comfortable than a hard floor, they're cheap to buy and they cause less strain on your back.
Reverse Curl
The reverse curl targets your lower stomach muscles. Simply lie on the floor, knees bent as far towards your chest as is comfortable, and contract your stomach muscles in order to lift your hips towards the ceiling and towards your chest. You can keep your hands on the floor, or keep your elbows on the floor with your hand poised in the air.
Hand Weights
If you're working on a set of arm curls, try only using one weight and one arm at a time. This forces your stomach muscles to contract in order to keep your balance. You'll be working your stomach muscles without even realizing it!
By using these exercises, you can significantly reduce the fat throughout your body. Losing weight from your stomach is not an easy process, yet many people obsess about it. If you stick to a good diet plan, and exercise on a regular basis, you'll lose weight from your stomach with time.
